Everyone wants to maintain smooth, acne-free skin, but how?

Introduction

Acne causes insecurities among younger people, which sometimes lowers their self-esteem. They end up thinking that the pimples on their faces or zits on their thighs or backs make them less beautiful. I know having acne can be embarrassing, especially if you have whiteheads on your face and you haven’t noticed their presence-and you’re with your friends!

How this acne occurs

Pimples are primarily caused by clogged skin pores. Other causes include adolescent hormones, genes from parents, and certain face products such as lotion, cleansers, or cosmetics. Acne can also be caused by medications that alter the amount of oil produced by your glands.

Other factors that do not directly contribute to clogged pores but can exacerbate them include certain foods, clothing, backpacks, or other garments that rub against your skin, humid conditions, stress and anxiety, picking at your pimples, and washing or scrubbing your skin too hard.

How moisturizers cause acne

As mentioned earlier, face products can cause acne. This is how it happens; when you use too much moisturizer on your skin.

As a result, the skin produces less moisture on its own, leaving a dry layer beneath the lotion. Your skin only absorbs what it needs, so any excess moisturizer product will simply sit on top of your face, attracting dirt and bacteria, which will then accumulate in your pores and cause acne.

Furthermore, if you have oily skin, using too much moisturizer can cause your body to produce more oil, causing your sebum production to go haywire. As a result, there will be more acne and blackheads.

It’s also important to know that dry skin can cause acne.

Conclusion

The issue isn’t the type of lotion you’re using; it’s that you’re using too much of it, and your body will only take what it needs, leaving an oily layer on your skin that attracts bacteria and dirt. Acne is caused by the accumulation of bacteria and dirt on your skin, which clogs your pores.

Treatment of clogged pores

  • Using oil free products or those which won’t clog your pores.
  • Cleaning and moisturizing your skin regularly and moderately to avoid the dryness of the skin.
  • Using products that help in cleaning dirt, oil and other debris on the skin such as salicyclic acid.

How to prevent clogged pores

  • Sticking to one skin care routine; that which is right for your age, skin type and skin concerns.
  • Avoid touching your skin with unwashed hands to prevent dirt and bacteria from habiting on your skin.
  • Avoid using oils on your face, such as coconut and olive oils.
  • Keep your skin clean and moderately moisturized at all times.
  • Never pick at or pop your pimples.
